Banjola: The Gold Tone Banjola is a full-scale 5-string banjo neck on a mandolin-like body. It has a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides, to produce a warm, softly sweet tone.

Custom MM-150 Long Neck .
- The MM-150 ("Maple Mountain") uses the same blond maple neck that is used for the MC-150 ("Maple Classic"), but it is attached to an open back pot having an Electric (a.k.a. "Whyte Laydie") style tone ring.
- That long blond maple neck is fashioned in the Pete Seeger style of the 1950s and '60s, having an extra three low frets. When tuned to the same tension as a standard, 22-fret banjo in "G" tuning, this instrument is tuned eBEG#E, which, of course, is an open E chord. Reflecting the original splicing-on of extra frets, the diamond inlay pattern in its rosewood fingerboard is "normal" when one has a capo at the 3rd fret (which, not coincidentally, places you in G). The peghead is "fiddle" shaped, and has a flamed maple peghead overlay; it comes standard with planetary tuners.
- The blond laminated pot is nicely appointed with chromed hardware, and, as mentioned, has an "Electric" tone ring (my favorite!).

Custom MM-150 Long Neck - BC-350: "Bob Carlin Signature Model" .
- Gold Tone has given us old-time music fans a banjo designed with clawhammer guru Bob Carlin's input and advice. It's a 12" maple pot with a rolled brass tone ring hooked up to a nice, natural maple neck. Befitting an OT banjo, the striped ebony fingerboard is scooped, and it has a cleverly recessed ebony trussrod cover, too. Bob likes a wide fingerboard, so this model is 1-3/8" at the nut for easy fingering.
- For this new model, Gold Tone has a simple, but very comfortable flat armrest.
- It is the Bob Carlin model so the faux dowel stick (which covers a coordinator rod) bears Bob's signature.

BC-350: "Bob Carlin Signature Model" - WL-250: "Maple Ladye" (ne "White Ladye")
- The Gold Tone website still uses the latter name, but their invoice now says "Maple Ladye". Regardless of what they call it, this is a traditional-looking, open-backed banjo, featuring the tone ring made famous in the Fairbanks and Vega Whyte Laydie banjos at the preceding turn of the century. Gold Tone has used a dark stain on the maple neck, and an extra deep pot now with a Renaissance head to achieve a great clawhammer sound. A "cloud" inlay pattern in its now-scooped ebony fingerboard and a handsome headstock set this instrument off nicely. In addition to finally scooping it and adding a Renaissance head, Gold Tone has put a No-Knot tailpiece on the WL-250 now, and they really do sound good! .

OB-250: "Orange Blossom." This is a traditional-looking bluegrass banjo, with a flathead tone ring. The maple neck and resonator have a nice fit and finish. It has nickel-plated parts, including the one-piece flange, a Price-licensed tailpiece, and, new in 2004, a 3-ply maple rim! OB-250GR: "Orange Blossom" with Graphite Neck This is Gold Tone's higher end bluegrass banjo, with a flathead tone ring and an optional, factory-fitted graphite neck. This neck has a "speed" finish, is exceptionally stable, and is impervious to temperature and humidity changes. The "fiddle cut" peghead is fittingly simple, and the only nod to fanciness is its truss rod cover. The tuners are Gold Tone's new planetaries.The maple resonator is nicley flamed. - CC-100+
This is effectively the same instrument as the CC-100 (above), but with some rather significant upgrades. As you can see, it has a brown stain on its maple neck and pot. The peghead is the same shape as the CC-100, but it has a stained maple overlay, and comes standard with Gold Tone's new planetary tuners. The 5th string peg seems also to have been redesigned, and the 5th string pip relocated to correct the 5th string's intonation.
The pot is the same as the standard CC-100's, having a small, rolled brass tone ring, but it has a new, engraved armrest. While it has Gold Tone's standard, Price-licensed tailpiece, you'll note that this one came with the new, made-in-Taiwan Remo frosted head. The frosting on these is a bit thicker than on the US heads, and this gives a tone similar to that of a Ludwig-made head.
