- 000-28.
- The definitive Martin guitar. Rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard & bridge. This has the clarity of rosewood, with the smaller, more manageable "auditorium" size. A fingerpicker's delight!

- HD-28.
- Martin's best selling instrument...and why not? With its classic herringbone trim, scalloped bracing, rosewood back & sides, and ebony fingerboard & bridge, these are great instruments. Full-sounding with the punch needed for bluegrass, too.

- OM-35.
- This Auditorium-size instrument has a 3-piece, Indian rosewood back and a bound fingerboard. Being an OM, it has scalloped top braces for a fuller, louder sound than the Standard 000-sized guitars. In addition, the OMs have a dreadnought's 25.4-inch scale, vs 24.9-inch for a Standard 000, and 1-3/4 inch width at the nut, instead of the Standard's 1-11/16.

- D-35.
- This dreadnought has a 3-piece, Indian rosewood back and a bound fingerboard. Unlike all the other Martin dreadnoughts, the D-35 has lighter, 1/4-inch bracing (the others have 5/16th-inch bracing), giving really clear highs and a very responsive bass.

- HD-35.
- As does the standard D-35, this dreadnought has a 3-piece, Indian rosewood back and a bound fingerboard. Unlike all the other Martin dreadnoughts, the D-35s have lighter, 1/4-inch bracing (the others have 5/16th-inch bracing), giving really clear highs, a very responsive bass and mid-range tones you have to hear to believe; the HD-35 has even lighter bracing, as it has been scalloped: What a sound! The HD-35 not only has herringbone trim, but special marquetry separating the 3-pieces of the back.

- D-42.
- This is one of my favorite Martin models. It has abalone inlay around the top and soundhole, but has what is, IMHO, very tasteful snowflake neck inlays in its ebony fingerboard and on its ebony bridge. With the large, "C.F. Martin" abalone inlay in the headstock and gold-plated "butter-bean" tuners, and very handsome rosewood back and sides this is a beautiful instrument. Just to add to its charm, unlike the other 40-series Martins, this model has forward shifted, scalloped bracing to give it that big pre-war Martin sound, too.
- Adding to its charm and attention to detail are the multiple stripe ivoroid binding around the body, as well as on the fingerboard and headstock, the very handsome marquetry back-strip (note you can see the grain in the ivoroid heelcap in this shot), and the old-fashioned, beveled edge, under-finish pickguard.

Our current stock of new C.F. Martin & Co. Vintage, Limited, and Special Series guitars includes:
- 00-18V.
- Wow! What a big sound from a small guitar! I love the 00 size--it's the most aesthetically appealing to me...and, my very first Martin was a 1946 00-18. This one brings it all back. What tone and balance. *sigh* (I like these well enough that I bought one for my personal use.)
- As do all the Vintage guitars in the Martin line, this has aging toner lacquer; vintage-style, "V" neck; "butterbean" tuners, abalone position dots, "through" saddle; and tortoise-shell-colored binding and pick guard. Its forward shifted, scalloped bracing is great; this is a warm, balanced guitar with more bass than a small body has any right to produce and crystal clear trebles..

- OM-18V.
-
As do all the Vintage guitars in the Martin line, this has aging toner lacquer; vintage-style, "V" neck; "butterbean" tuners, abalone position dots in the 14-fret neck; "through" saddle; and tortoise-shell-colored binding and pick guard. Add to this a pre-war sound owing to its forward shifted, scalloped bracing, and you've got a guitar that won't quit!
While OM ("Orchestra Model") guitars have the same body dimensions as a 000 model, the OMs in the Standard and Vintage series have the 25.4 inch scale length of a dreadnought, as opposed to 24.9 for a 000). Similarly, the 000 guitars have fingerboards that are 1-11/16 inces at the nut, while OMs are 1-3/4 inch.
With its scalloped bracing, this is a dynamite small-bodied instrument. They have the power of a dreadnought, but the clarity of a 000. Amazing!

- D-18VS.
As do all the Vintage guitars in the Martin line, this has aging toner lacquer; vintage-style, "V" neck; "butterbean" tuners (Waverlys on the slot-head models), abalone position dots, "through" saddle; and tortoise-shell-colored binding and pick guard. This one, though, has the extended "Ditson" body (resulting in a 12-fret neck and a boomier, richer sound) and a slotted headstock. The pre-war sound of its forward shifted, scalloped bracing is great. A warm, full-sounding guitar--I bought the first one I had for myself, I thought so highly of it!

- 000-28VS.
What a wonderful little guitar! This has the extended body, resulting in a 12-fret neck and the classic style slotted headstock with Waverly tuners. The abalone diamond and squares inlay is limited to frets 5, 7, and 9 in the ebony fingerboard. There is no pickguard, and the instrument has the old-fashioned pyramid bridge with a long saddle. It has a 25.4-inch scale, and the fingerboard is 1-13/16 inch at the nut.
- As do all the -28 models, this has back and sides of rosewood, and the top is gorgeous spruce.
Out of Stock
- 000-28EC Eric Clapton signature model.
- Being a -28, this guitar has rosewood back and sides, and ebony fingerboard and bridge. But, beyond that, this is a "super-000" model combining several features of Martin's 000-28 and OM-28 guitars with the Vintage Series.
- The top bracing is scalloped, as is that of an OM, yet this instrument has the 24.9-inch scale of a standard 000. Also similar to an OM, the fingerboard is 1-3/4" at the nut (as opposed to a 000's 1-11/16" nut).
- Other differences include the 000-28EC's ivoroid body binding (vs. a Standard's white Boltaron). The 000-28EC has herringbone trim on the top, as well as the Vintage Series's other usual features.
- With that short scale and wide fingerboard, these are really great playing guitars, and the scalloped bracing sure makes them sound great, too! Plus, of course, that Eric Clapton fellow has signed the label...

- These are invariably wonderful instruments, and don't stay in the store very long.
This is a ZEPP Country Music Pick: I feel that the HD-28V is consistently the best sounding guitar Martin makes without cosmetic additions. People tend to buy these on impulse: They'll play an HD-28V and say "I've just gotta have this." Sure, they're expensive, but you can pay a whole lot more for a Martin and not get a better sounding instrument--although those fancy Martins sure are masterpieces of quality and beauty.

Our current stock of new C.F. Martin & Co. Special and Limited edition guitars includes:
- D-35 Johnny Cash.
- This is a Special Edition, all-black D-35 with some really neat features.
- Though painted black, its top is Engelmann spruce. The 1/4-inch top bracing (as used on all D-35s, instead of the 5/16-inch bracing of a D-28 or 18, etc.) is not only scalloped, but forward-shifted, giving this guitar a truly remarkable sound. The sound hole has an abalone rosette (from the D-45). The multiple bindings are black and ivoroid.
-
The sides and 3-piece back are made of rosewood (again, black, so you can't see it). The back has the HD marquetry dividing its sections. The ebony fingerboard has very nifty abalone stars inlaid into slightly larger MOP stars. Note the multiple binding on the edges of the fingerboard, too. The black peghead is bound, and has the older Grover Rotomatic brand tuners.
- The instrument has been signed by John Carter Cash and C.F. Martin IV, and has a facsimile of Johnny Cash's signature inlaid in the fingerboard.
- Sharp looking, great sounding, and Now in Stock.
- FeLiX III Limited Edition.
- This is (obviously) the third in a fanciful series of 3/4 sized guitars that Martin has been building, each having a different Felix the Cat motif.
.
The top of this one is a kinda tie-dye affair, and the Felix theme is carried onto the headstock. That peghead has "smoked chrome" tuners (note the Stratabond neck construction, as well--it also has a matching "smoked chrome" strap button installed at the factory). The back and sides are a simple flat black High Prssure Laminate.
The fingerboard and bridge are made of Micarta, and the neck is a Stratabond laminate, so these instruments are dang nigh indestructible.
Part of a series! Collect all three (though I never did get any FeLiX IIs!) Comes with the "FeLiX" gig bag, as shown.

- Hawaiian X Limited Edition.
- This cool X guitar has a printed Hawaiian theme on its front, featuring the CEO, Chris Martin, IV seated at a luau.
- The entire body of the X Series guitars are made of a High Pressure Laminate, similar to the Formica brand product, and are amazingly durable and good sounding. On this model, the back and sides have a printed grain of koa wood (and why not? It is an Hwaiian motif, after all).
- The fingerboard and bridge are made of Micarta, and the neck is a Stratabond laminate, so these instruments are dang nigh indestructible.
- Only 500 of these were made--the one we have in stock is number 445, and it's signed by Chris Martin himself, of course!

SWDGT. Martin's "Sustainable Wood" series
In Martin's efforts to preserve dwindling supplies of tonewoods, they have embarked on a series of instruments made of wood certified to be from managed forests, i.e., those planted specifically for harvest. Hence, SW="Sustainable Wood, D=Dreadnought, and GT="Gloss Top", the instrument having a catalyzed polymer, satin finish elsewhere.
This solid Sitka spruce-topped (reclaimed from the pulp wood industry, it says) guitar has its back, sides, and even the neck of very handsome cherry. The fingerboard and bridge are of a Mexican hardwood called Katalox, which has the color of rosewood, but a smooth, hard surface much like that of ebony.
The binding is imitation shell, as is the heelcap and the center stripe down the back. The instrument has gold-plated tuners, and even a "shell" overlay on the headstock.
Very nice guitar, really. It looks good, plays great, and has a surprisingly nice sound.

SWOMGT. Martin's "Sustainable Wood" series
Just like the SWDGT (dreadnought version) this OM is part of Martin's efforts to preserve dwindling supplies of tonewoods, they are using wood from managed forests, i.e., those planted specifically for harvest. SW00-DB Machiche Limited Edition (125 to be made)
This Sustainable Wood model is a 00 body size, but with the body depth of a dreadnought. This was a design originally introduced as part of Martin's Women and Music program, but there is no longer any reference to that provenance on the guitar.
This full gloss, solid Sitka spruce-topped ("rescued", presumably from the pulp-wood industry) has some bear claw. The sound hole has a unique, black bound cherry rosette with machiche and maple inlays; the top binding is a rope design with black/maple/black fiber inlay on the top--the sides and back binding are ivoroid. Its katalox bridge has maple bridge pins with copper dots
The back and sides are made of solid machiche, which is a managed hardwood that looks similar to a wild-grained mahogany, with a black/maple/black fiber dividing strip.
The cherry neck has a 1-11/16th inch katalox fingerboard (the same wood as the bridge) with cherry and maple dots inlaid; it also has copper side marker dots.
The peghead is overlain with machiche, and the Martin logo in inlaid with maple. The Gotoh-made tuners have an "antique bright copper" finish, matching the finish on the factory-installed strap button.
OK--it looks really neat, but how does it sound? Really good, that's how! That deep body really emphasizes its bass, while the smaller profile of the 00-sized top with its scalloped, hybrid X-bracing makes for really clear treble.
